Given the basic traits of utmost ductility and resistance of the material, stiff polyurethane technology has rightfully entered the sector of motorcycle safety. The protective gear conceived for riders has parts and inserts, designed to better protect some parts of the body, made from stiff polyurethane.

There are some interesting examples: armoured motorbike jackets that adopt a patented technology comprising a mix of rubbery foam on the inside and stiff polyurethane on the outside, motorbike gloves with knuckle armour made of co-injected stiff polyurethane, and boots with external stiff polyurethane protection fastened by screws to the mesh liner made of soft polyurethane.
